A comic book -- or comic for short -- is a magazine or book containing sequential art. Although the term implies otherwise, the subject matter in comic books is not necessarily humorous; in fact, it is often serious and action-oriented. Comic books are so called because some of the earliest comic books were simply collections of comic strips, mostly humorous, that were originally published in newspapers. The commercial success of these collections led to work being created specifically for the comic book form, which fostered specific conventions such as splash pages.
Long-form comic books, generally with hardcover or trade-paper binding are sometimes said to be "graphic novels," but the term's definition is vague. Comic books are examples of an indigenous American art form though prototypical examples of the form exist.
American comic books have become closely associated with the superhero tradition. In the United Kingdom, the term comic book is used to refer to American comic books by their readers and collectors, while the general populace would likely consider a comic book a hardcover book collecting comics stories. The analogous term in the UK is a comic, short for comic paper or comic magazine. Australia published their first comic book before the U.S. in 1931 with kookaburra* Previously Australia copied the British comic papers, they later experimented with the landscape format which almost became standard.

A. The links below can help get you started. To find more sources, do a search on the internet (like Yahoo! or Google), using "learn how to draw comic books," or anything similar, as your search term.

Why can't view the comic books I download on utorrent?*
Q. Everytime I to download a comic book on utorrent, my computer says that I can't view the document because it doesn't know what program created it. I have tried this about a dozen times and I can't find any other sites that have a wide range of comic books. Does any one know why this is happening or any other good sites for downloading comic books?

A. It could be that the comic books you're downloading require a special reader. It would be helpful if you could say what format the files are in or what site you got them from since uTorrent is just your torrent client. My guess would be that your comics are in .CBR or .CBZ format and you need to go get a program like CDisplay to read them. The program is free and you can find it at davidayton/CDisplay

A. Its hard to beat the classics: Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Spider Man, Fantastic Four, X Men, Thor. Id like to suggest that you go to sites like Superman through the ages, and read all the old Superman stories you can. Then, hyperborea.org, the link to Those who Ride the Lightning (a Flash site) and glcorps.org, a Green Lantern site. There are not as many Marvel related sites, but the on line Marvel Directory at least describes each character, so you can tell the players apart without a scorecard. Wikipedia has articles on every super hero I know of, and Don Marksteins Toonopedia is also very good (easier to use, for our purposes.) It covers newspaper strips and movie toons as well as comic books.Try looking through them
