Charitable organizations -- why can't they (eventually) fund themselves?
Q. To me, it's plain and simple; I'll use the Red Cross as an example: Pretend that in 2009, the Red Cross puts $25 million of its total donations into a savings account. Over 12 months, this account will yield, let's say, $50,000 in interest (I'm just using this as an example... no need to correct me on this - you get the idea of what I'm saying). This $50,000 can be earmarked to pay for whatever is needed (example: food at 5 relief shelters in NYC). In 2010, it puts aside an additional $25 million, so that for 2011, they now have $100,000 coming in - in interest alone - to pay for things. In 2011, the same thing... now $150,000 to pay for things; in 2012, $200,000, and so on and so on. They can eventually reach a point where they… [cont.]

A. Investing is risky, unless you invest in something like U.S. Treasuries where your organization would probably be earning close-to or less than inflation. After a short period its growing expenses would be greater than it's constant (or shrinking) interest payments. Putting their donated money in riskier (even if responsible) investments would put them in the same place that many people have found their retirement plans this year. In the case of a not-for-profit organization that completely relied upon its interest payment for annual operating expenses, it would most likely find itself bankrupt after one year of poor investment performance. With all of that said, Harvard University is a Not-For-Profit organization with an endowment of… [cont.]

Why is there still the NAACP and black colleges still in existence?
Q. Why isn't there Asian or Latino colleges? Why do African Americans feel the need to create institutions and organizations that attempt to advance themselves based simply on color when the president is now African American?
Asked by MichelleMalkin - Sat Jul 18 00:15:29 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Asians already have their act together & know hard work pays off. & they take care of their own. Blacks have been milking the race card for decades & parasites like Al Sharp keep fueling the racist fires to pay for his thousand dollars suits & five star hotels. He *& other black "leaders" know how to keep a good thing going even if it's destroying blacks. The latinos will follow in Al Sharptons footsteps I fear.
