A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano and Comic Cuts are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

anyone remember the British comic 'Action' with hook jaw?
Q. it must have been back in the late '70s. sadly it was banned because it was really violent and graphic. i loved it. what are your memories of it?

A. Loved it and still have most of the annuals even now.Sadly my brother in his entrepreneurial zeal ,bastard!,sold the comics without my knowledge. It was merged with Battle comic to form the classic Battle-Action ,which later became BAttle-Action Force when the Action Force toys were launched here (G.I. Joe to you colonials). I loved Deatth Game 1999 because one of the first films I ever saw that wasn`t a kid`s film was Rollerball (James Caan original not anaemic Klein version) ,my favourite early stories were Hellmann of Hammer Force ,Dredger (a British Dirty Harry LOL) ,Hook Jaw and there was one I forget the name of where all adults were dead of a plague and Kids were running wild - Kids Rule OK ? was it - I forget.
