What's the best site to sell comic books online?
Q. I am trying to sell many of the comic books that I have online. I tried ebay but I didn't get many bids for them. Is there any site that specializes in selling comic books online? Thanks.
Asked by Tyrone P - Sun Mar 23 12:23:23 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's possible you didn't get many bids because your comics aren't that rare or valuable, or you didn't provide the information people look for when they buy comics from eBay, or perhaps you had a starting/reserve price that was unrealistic. eBay really is the standard way to go. You can also try craigslist so you can find interested buyers in your area who can pick the books up and hand you cash, that way you don't have to deal with shipping or online money transfers. Or take them to your local comic book store. Unless your comics are from before 1975, any other method of selling is rarely worth all the trouble

How many comic books were in the box?
Q. Tayla purchased a large box of comic books for $300. She gave 15 of the comic books to her brother and then sold the rest on an internet website for $330, making a profit of $1.50 on each one. How many comic books were in the box? What was the original price of each comic book?
Asked by devan s - Fri Oct 23 18:00:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Let x denote the number of comic books in the box. Her cost per magazine was 300/x. If she gave 15 to her brother, then she sold (x-15) magazines on the internet site. The price she got per magazine was 330/(x-15). This was $1.50 more than her cost per magazine. So 330/(x-15) - 300/x = 1.5 Multiply both sides by x(x-15): 330x - 300(x-15)) = 1.5x(x-15) 330x - 300x + 4500 = 1.5x - 22.5x 30x + 4500 = 1.5x - 22.5x Divide both sides by 1.5 (I like integers) 20x + 3000 = x - 15x 0 = x - 35x - 3000 Using the quadratic formula, x = [35 (1225 + 12000)]/2 x = 75 or x = -40 We must reject the negative solution of course. The original price of the comic books, per book, was $300/75 = $4

Can anyone list the comic books issues that prove Angela and Spawn's romantic relationship?
Q. I've read a few comic books from the Spawn universe, and have always been intrigued by the titular character's (al Simmons) relationship with Angela. I've read on wikipedia that the two had a romantic relationship before she was killed in Spawn #100. Can anyone list and enumerate the comic book series and issues that show this relationship? Actually, it would be great if anyone could list all her appearances, in all series. Thanks.

A. They sleep together in the Angela mini-series. Her first appearance was in Spawn #9. She also made a very brief appearance in the Spawn movie.

Why is Manga considered a separate medium from comic books?
Q. I've noticed people getting annoyed when Manga gets grouped in the same genre as comic books, or when bookstores sell anime alongside western animation.
Asked by Human - Mon Jul 27 20:07:26 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Well, manga is a type of comic." hey is the only person who even got this remotely right. A comic is simply the format of telling a story through juxtaposed pictures - which includes manga. Manga is just a word used to describe the style of comics which come from Japan, which are USUALLY (but not always) uncolored, read right to left, and have a certain style of art, characterized by large eyes, elaborate hair and other elements. "It's like saying Football and Rugby are the same." They're both sports. Football is just one example of a sport, just like manga is one example of a comic.

Are comic books still worth a lot of money?
Q. I remember you could sell old classic graphic novels for good money. I have 2 boxes full of comic books since i was a kid, but since our economy has changed so much in recent years, i was wondering if i should even bother selling them?
Asked by Vibes - Fri Nov 7 18:30:56 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They can be worth a lot of money. If they are from mid-1980's till today, comics probably won't make much money. Other than some exceptions, most of those comics are not that rare. If the comics are from the early 1980's or earlier (60's or 70's) then there is a greater chance of them being worth a lot of money. And as other people mentioned, it depends of the condition. Check out someplace like to get an idea of your comics' worth. To answer your last question, you should probably hold on to your comics until the economy picks back up. (just my opinion)

A. Me: I grew up with Superman and Batman. I read them and traded them with friends until they fell apart. My hubby: Didn't discover the love of reading until he found comics. He read them and lovingly kept them to read again and again. Together: We owned and operated a comic shop in a small town for twelve years. We made lots of friends and had a good time, but didn't make enough money to live on. Now we are both very avid readers of all types of books - comics included!

A. Both Spider-Man and any of the X-titles are usually enjoyable. They both have a long history though since they've been running for quite a while. I would just do a little bit of reading on Wikipedia for either and then pick up a few issues. You just have to start somewhere...and then come here with any questions.

How can I find the value of my comic books?
Q. I've recently acquired a number of really old comic books that are in good condition. Are there any legitimate sites that I can go to to find their value? Thanks!
Asked by Aslynn63 - Thu Aug 28 09:18:32 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depending on what type of comic books you have (some characters and books are worth more than others), how old they are and the condition, you might get a decent price. Either check on-line at any site that deals with collectibles like baseball cards, comic books, etc., or try to find the Comic Book Buyer's Guide. It lists the values and pricing of comic books.

A. i started really getting into comics around 1982... puts me at 9 years old then. i remember becuase my parents had a birthday party for me and i got Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle for the Colecovision, along with other games, of course Star Wars stuff, and a bunch of comics to distribute to my friends. Well, the party was a bust due to a typical Chicago Winter in January and not many of my friends showed. lame. but at least i got to keep most of my comics! i collected X-Men religiously, along with Amazing Spider-Man and the Peter Parker line. kept going on through until 8th grade. i'd remebered the X-Men fondly, as well as the epic of the era- Secret Wars. so when i'd heard about the Marvel Civil War, i had to check things out. this… [cont.]

How much are comic books worth?
Q. I came across hundreds of comic books at my job that someone was throwing out. I was checking them out. Many of the comic books are still in the plastic and have not been open. Some are open but they are x rated comic books. A lot of the comic books are from the 90's and some are from the 60's. So how much are they worth?
Asked by sawa - Fri Aug 28 21:48:26 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The general rule of thumb says that books from 1980 to the present day are not worth very much, and can go for as little as pennies apiece in bulk. Before that, the further back you go the more their worth. Of course, it depends on what the specific issue is and what condition it's in, but that goes for most comics. Comicpriceguide.com or the overstreet price guide are just that, GUIDES. Just because they say a comic is worth $4 doesn't mean anyone really pays that price. The best way to get an accurate idea of their value, search eBay, and find what people actually pay for specific issues.

Where on the internet can I have the value of my comic books appraised for free?
Q. I recently bought a box of about 50 assorted comic books at a local auction and I was wondering if there were any comics in the bunch that could be worth more than just the pleasure of reading them. Is there a website that offers free comic book appraisals?
Asked by Margaret L. - Sun Mar 15 17:25:53 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm not sure if there is anyone that does free appraisals unless you want to see if a local comic store will do it. You can try to do the appraisal yourself by using It doesn't cost anything to join. They have articles on how to grade the books then you can look up the potential worth. If you think you own something valuable, I would recommend getting it professionally appraised. CGC ( can grade & preserve the comic so it will retain its value. I have no idea how much it costs to do this.

Is Marvel unintentionally devaluing their comic books?
Q. They've gotten rid of a lot of their top-notched artists. They're printing and reprinting a lot of their comic books nowadays. In addition, they just started this new digital/online comic book campaign. Will doing all this devalue the comic books they're selling today?
Asked by Yay Ah! - Tue Sep 30 18:28:36 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Marvel doesn't concern itself with the value of it's older issues. They make no money when people sell the issues between each other after they buy it from Marvel in the first place. But the answer is no. Old comics which are rare will always be rare. People want Amazing Spider-Man #1 no matter how many times it's been reprinted. The value of those older, truly rare comics goes up every year without fail. The value of modern comics will go down regardless of whether or not they're reprinted, because value in older comics comes from rarity, and there's nothing rare about modern comics with print runs in the tens or hundreds of thousands when everyone buying them keeps them. The old comics are rare and collectable because people didn't use… [cont.]
